Parents Day Out
Welcome to Peace United Methodist Parent’s Day Out of Pickerington, Ohio! For almost 10 years, the Peace Parent’s Day Out (PDO) program has provided children and their parents in Pickerington and surrounding communities with a day out for fun and learning activities. We play. We learn. And, we have a great time. We also provide children with a safe educational environment that promotes and nourishes Christian values so that children experience God’s love. The Friday program, designed for children 2 to 5 years old, allows preschoolers to explore science, math and reading skills, art, motion, and music. It also gives them an opportunity to play with other children, which helps them develop their social and motor skills. They do NOT have to be potty trained to enjoy their day out.Our staff is qualified, dedicated, loving, and approachable. They love children and enjoy helping them learn new skills and develop the ones they already possess. PDO gives children a sense of accomplishment and provides them with a stepping stone into preschool.Peace PDO closely follows the Pickerington Local School District’s school calendar. Our program is part of the outreach ministry of Peace Church. We meet every Friday during the school year and almost every Friday during the summer from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. At Peace PDO you will find:

Called to MinistryIn 2003 Peace United Methodist Church established our preschool and PDO program in answer to a vital need in our community and to provide care and Christian nurture for little ones in our church and community. Jesus said, “Let the children come unto me….” And we believe that He is calling us to “let the children come “to Peace and help them grow in His love. Mission StatementOur mission is to provide a safe educational environment in which Christian values and attitudes are nourished and children experience God’s love. In doing so, we help parents prepare children for a successful preschool and kindergarten experience. Our Objectives*Guide your child through the preschool years by modeling Christian attitudes and values; for we believe spiritual behavior is more caught than taught*Provide readiness skills at the child’s developmental level to help him with success in the early childhood school setting*Work together with parents to provide a positive preschool experience for their child Our Schedule and FeesPeace PDO offers a variety of schedules to meet the diverse needs of families in the Pickerington area. Our classes have low teacher to student ratio. We average 2 teachers to 10 students. The Peace PDO lead teachers each hold a Master’s degree, and one is a Registered Nurse. Teachers are trained in CPR, First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse. Peace Church follows a Safe Sanctuaries Policy, which states that all of our staff must have a current background check. Parents are encouraged to participate in the classroom. The cost of the Friday program, which meets 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., is just $80 per month, which is equivalent to $5 per hour. The cost for each additional child is $60 per month. The registration fee is $50 for the entire year or $25 for the half. This fee helps us provide crafts throughout the year and two nut-free snacks per day. During the summer, we have theme days. Parents can purchase a summer punch card for $80 or pay each time a child attends during the summer months (June through August only). We begin our regular new school year in September. Our Daily Schedule Physical EducationChildren daily take part in activities that promote large and small motor development.
ArtChildren have opportunities to work with a variety of medium. The children are encouraged to create their own unique works of art. Through art the preschoolers will improve their fine motor skills. The focus of art is on the process rather than the product. MusicChildren are given the opportunity to sing, play instruments, listen and move to music. Many of our songs focus on developing skills—memory, days of the week, and months. About Our StaffThe PDO staff is trained to provide a safe environment for young children. All lead teachers hold a master’s degree, and one is a Registered Nurse. Their technique of handling children in a warm, sensitive, and loving manner will encourage the development of the “whole child.” The teachers believe that they can practice their ministry by being positive role models for young children. Your Children WillYour children will have a variety of learning opportunities geared toward individual development at their own level. Here’s an example of some of the opportunities and activities planned:
